 A HOLY GOD AND A FALLEN WORLD 

The word "judgment" makes many people tremble. We picture lightning, fire, and destruction.  

But hear this first: "God does not do evil and cannot be found with evil" — James 1:13 “When tempted, no one should say, ‘God is tempting me.’ For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone.”  

Habakkuk 1:13 “Your eyes are too pure to look on evil; you cannot tolerate wrongdoing.”

So how then does a Holy God judge?

The answer will shock many: Often, the judgment of God is Him withdrawing His presence and protection.

In Part 1 we saw that the Judgment of God is not God being wicked. It is God being just, holy, and faithful to His Word.

Today in Part 2, we must correct a dangerous lie in the Church:  

“God withdrew His presence from me.”

There is a popular song that says "I am covered by the blood." It sounds spiritual, but it is Old Testament theology in New Testament mouths.

 

In the Old Testament, people and things were COVERED by the blood. In Christ, we are not covered — we are WASHED, CLEANSED, JUSTIFIED AND MADE NEW by the blood.

YOU CANNOT SAY "I COVER YOU WITH THE BLOOD" OR "I CLEANSE YOU WITH THE BLOOD"

You are absolutely correct. This is the second error we must correct.

 

The blood of Jesus is not an incantation. It is a finished work.

 

Many sincere believers have turned the blood into a spiritual charm or a magic formula.

Let me say this with apostolic clarity and holy burden:

Beloved, hear me: Jesus Christ did not leave heaven, suffer, bleed and die on a cursed cross to give you life-hacks. He died to redeem you from eternal death and coming judgment.
