CLARIFICATION CONTINUED: YOU CANNOT SAY "I COVER YOU
WITH THE BLOOD" OR "I CLEANSE YOU WITH THE BLOOD"
By Apostle Edward Freedom | LRCC
You are absolutely correct. This is the second error we must
correct.
The blood of Jesus is not an incantation. It is a finished
work.
Many sincere believers have turned the blood into a spiritual charm or a magic formula.
"I cover my car with the blood!"
"I cover my house with the blood!"
"I cleanse you with the blood!"
No, beloved. You cannot cover anything with the blood. You
cannot cleanse anyone with the blood.
Why? Because the work of the blood is the work of Christ
ALONE, received by faith, not performed by your declaration.
1. YOU ARE NOT THE
HIGH PRIEST
In the Old Testament, only the High Priest could apply the
blood, and only once a year, and only in the Holy of Holies, according to God's
pattern. Not every Israelite could take blood and sprinkle it.
In the New Testament, Jesus is our High Priest (Hebrews
9:11-12). He entered the heavenly Holy of Holies ONCE with His own blood and
obtained eternal redemption for us.
The offering has been offered. The blood has been shed. The
work is FINISHED (John 19:30).
You cannot re-offer what Christ already offered. You cannot
re-sprinkle what Christ already sprinkled.
2. WE DO NOT APPLY
THE BLOOD — WE RECEIVE WHAT THE BLOOD HAS DONE BY FAITH
Listen to the Gospel language of the New Testament:
It does not say WE cleanse with the blood. It says we ARE
washed, we HAVE redemption, we ARE justified through faith in His blood.
"Whom God hath
set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood" — Romans 3:25
"In whom we have
redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches
of his grace" — Ephesians 1:7
"Being now justified
by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him." — Romans 5:9
The blood has already done its work 2000 years ago. Your
part is not to apply it again. Your part is to BELIEVE and RECEIVE by faith
what it has already accomplished.
You don't cleanse anyone. The blood cleansed us.
You don't cover anything. Christ's work covers us in the
sense that His righteousness is now ours.
3. STOP USING THE
BLOOD LIKE JUJU — START PREACHING THE GOSPEL
When we say "I cover you with the blood," we are
unconsciously practicing Old Testament ritual and even African traditional
religion where we sprinkle blood to protect.
The Gospel is not: "I cover you."
The Gospel is: "Christ shed His blood for you, and if
you believe, you are washed, forgiven, and made new."
It is not your declaration that cleanses. It is your FAITH
in HIS declaration that saves.
So what should we say?
WRONG: "I cover my children with the blood of
Jesus."
RIGHT: "Father, thank you that my children are
redeemed, protected, and preserved through faith in the blood of Jesus. I plead
their redemption."
WRONG: "I cleanse you with the blood."
RIGHT: "The blood of Jesus Christ has washed us from
all sin, and by faith in Him, you are cleansed."
CONCLUSION: IT'S HIS
WORK, ACCEPTED BY FAITH
Apostle Paul never once said "I cover you with the
blood." He said:
"I am crucified
with Christ... I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave
himself for me." — Galatians 2:20
The blood is not a tool in your mouth. The blood is the
foundation of your faith.
Christ did it. You believe it. You receive it. You thank Him
for it.
Stop doing the work. Start believing the work that is DONE.
