UNDERSTANDING THE JUDGMENT OF GOD — PART 4
SUB-TITLE: THE MADNESS OF A KING - WHEN UNDERSTANDING DEPARTS

INTRODUCTION
In Part 2 we said: WE WALKED OUT. HE DID NOT LEAVE.
In Part 3 someone asked me: "What of Nebuchadnezzar? Did God make him eat grass for 7 years?"
That question is the key to understanding Judgment.
The answer is: GOD DID NOT MAKE HIM EAT GRASS.
Just like the father of the prodigal son did not make his son eat pigs' food.
The son ate pigs' food because his MIND had changed.
1. JUDGMENT BEGINS IN THE MIND
The Bible says:
Colossians 1:21 - "And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works..."
Notice: Enemies in your mind.
And:
Romans 1:28 - "And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient."
This is the secret of Judgment.
When you refuse to retain God in your knowledge, you lose taste for natural things. You create a GAP between you and God. And in that gap, your mind becomes corrupt.
That is why Adam made leaves to cover himself.
That is why men today run after smoking, addictions, and lifestyles that are not natural to God's design.
It is not God making them. It is a reprobate mind making those things appealing.
Nebuchadnezzar is the same.
2. THE PRODIGAL SON AND NEBUCHADNEZZAR: SAME MADNESS
Look at the prodigal son:
Luke 15:17 - "And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father's have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger!"
"He came to himself" means all this while, he was NOT himself. He was mad. His understanding had departed.
It is like the mad men you see in markets and dustbins eating anything. God did not make them do it. Their present mindset made those things look like food to them.
Nebuchadnezzar was a king, but he became like them.
God had warned him in a dream. Daniel told him to break off his sins. God waited 12 whole months (Daniel 4:29) for him to repent.
But one day he stood on his palace roof and said: "Is not this great Babylon, that I have built by MY power?" (Daniel 4:30)
At that moment, his understanding left him.
3. GOD DID NOT MAKE HIM A BEAST. GOD ALLOWED HIS BEASTLY NATURE TO TAKE OVER.
Daniel 4:31 - "While the word was in the king's mouth, there fell a voice from heaven, saying, O king Nebuchadnezzar, to thee it is spoken; The kingdom is departed from thee."
God did not say "become a cow." God said "the kingdom is departed."
When the covering of God departs, what remains is the beast in man.
The Bible says: "and a beast's heart was given unto him" (Daniel 4:16).
God gave him over to what his pride had already chosen - a mind without God. So for seven times (seven years), he ate grass like oxen.
God did not force grass into his mouth. His corrupted understanding made grass look like food.
Proverbs 21:16 - "The man that wandereth out of the way of understanding shall remain in the congregation of the dead."
He wandered out of the way of understanding. So he remained with the dead, in the field, eating grass.
4. THE WAY BACK: WHEN UNDERSTANDING RETURNS, HONOR RETURNS
Here is the mercy of God. God did not kill him in that field. He preserved him for 7 years, waiting.
And the Bible says:
Daniel 4:34 - "And at the end of the days I Nebuchadnezzar lifted up mine eyes unto heaven, and mine UNDERSTANDING returned unto me, and I blessed the most High..."
Daniel 4:36 - "At the same time my REASON returned unto me; and for the glory of my kingdom, mine honour and brightness returned unto me..."
Did you see it?
When his UNDERSTANDING returned, his HONOR returned.
When his REASON returned, his KINGDOM returned.
He said: "I blessed the Most High" — the same mouth that said "I have built" now said "He liveth forever."
That is repentance. And immediately, excellent majesty was added unto him.
CONCLUSION: WHERE DID YOU WALK OUT?
Ndi Nna, this is the Judgment of God.
God does not make you eat grass. Your lack of understanding makes grass look like bread.
Many are eating grass today — eating shame, eating addiction, eating failure — and they think it is food. It is because understanding has departed.
But the moment you lift your eyes to heaven, like Nebuchadnezzar, and like the prodigal son who came to himself...
Your understanding will return.
Your reason will return.
Your honor will return.
God never left the field. He was waiting for the king to look up.
So I ask you today in this Month of Open Doors:
Where did you wander out of the way of understanding?
Lift up your eyes now. Come back to yourself. Come back to God.
HAVE FAITH IN GOD.
DON'T LOSE YOUR UNDERSTANDING.
