🔥 THE POWER OF PRAISE AND WORSHIP: HOW IT OPENS DIVINE DOORS

A Message from Lifeboat Rescuing Church of Christ

Yesterday, I shared a message on “The Power of Praise and Worship and How It Opens Divine Doors.”

Praise is more than singing when everything is going well. Worship is more than an emotional response to answered prayers. As believers, we are called to praise God because of who He is and because we trust His promises—even when our circumstances have not changed.

🙏 PRAISE THAT GOES BEYOND CIRCUMSTANCES

In the Old Testament, we find many occasions where God's people responded to His mighty acts with praise.

A powerful example is found in Exodus 14 and 15.

God delivered Israel from Pharaoh and brought them through the Red Sea. After witnessing this great deliverance, Moses and the children of Israel sang to the Lord:

“I will sing unto the LORD, for he hath triumphed gloriously.”
— Exodus 15:1

Their praise followed a mighty demonstration of God's power.

But there is an important lesson for New Testament believers: our praise must not depend solely on what God has already done for us.

We are called to praise God because we believe Him.

✝️ NEW TESTAMENT BELIEVERS: PRAISING BY FAITH

The New Testament presents a deeper dimension of worship.

We are people of faith.

We don't praise God only because we have received the blessing. We praise Him because we trust the God who made the promise.

Abraham is an excellent example of this kind of faith. He trusted God's promise even when the circumstances seemed impossible.

Faith says:

“I don't see it yet, but I believe God.”

“I don't understand it yet, but I trust God.”

“The door has not opened yet, but I will still praise God.”

That is powerful worship.

🔥 PAUL AND SILAS: PRAISE IN THE PRISON

One of the clearest examples is found in Acts 16.

Paul and Silas had been beaten and thrown into prison. Their backs had been wounded. Their feet were fastened in stocks.

If praise depended on comfort, that would have been the perfect time to remain silent.

But at midnight, Paul and Silas prayed and sang praises to God.

And the prisoners heard them.

Then something supernatural happened.

“And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken.”
— Acts 16:26

Their circumstances did not determine their worship.

Their faith determined their worship.

And praise became part of the atmosphere in which God opened a door.

The prison doors opened.

Chains were broken.

And the jailer and his household were eventually brought to faith.

What a testimony!

🩸 THEY REJOICED IN SUFFERING FOR CHRIST

The early apostles also demonstrated that Christian joy is not dependent upon comfortable circumstances.

After being beaten and commanded not to preach in the name of Jesus, the apostles departed rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer for His name (Acts 5:40–41).

Think about that.

They had been beaten.

Yet they rejoiced.

Why?

Because their joy was not rooted in comfort.

Their joy was rooted in Christ.

⚠️ THE DANGER OF FAKE WORSHIP

One of the dangers facing the Church today is conditional worship.

Some people praise God when they receive a breakthrough.

They worship when business is good.

They sing when their prayers are answered.

They rejoice when everything is working in their favor.

But what happens when the answer delays?

What happens when the money isn't there?

What happens when sickness comes?

What happens when the door seems closed?

What happens when God appears silent?

If our worship disappears when our circumstances become difficult, we need to examine the foundation of our worship.

Do we worship God for what He gives us—or because He is God?

🌧️ PRAISE IN THE STORM

True worship does not deny pain.

It does not mean pretending that everything is fine when it isn't.

Rather, biblical worship says:

“This situation is difficult, but God is still faithful.”

“I may be crying, but I will still trust Him.”

“I don't understand what God is doing, but I know who God is.”

That is faith-filled praise.

📖 “REJOICE EVERMORE”

The Bible gives believers a remarkable instruction:

“Rejoice evermore.”
— 1 Thessalonians 5:16

Notice that Scripture doesn't say, “Rejoice whenever everything goes your way.”

It says:

“Rejoice evermore.”

Then Paul continues:

“In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”
— 1 Thessalonians 5:18

This doesn't mean we call evil good or pretend suffering doesn't hurt.

It means that even in difficult circumstances, we can find reasons to trust and thank God.

🙌 “GIVE THANKS FOR ALL MEN”

Paul also instructed Timothy:

“I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men.”
— 1 Timothy 2:1

Our worship should therefore extend beyond ourselves.

We can thank God for people.

We can pray for people.

We can bless those who have helped us.

And even when people disappoint us, we can choose not to allow bitterness to take control of our hearts.

🚪 PRAISE CAN OPEN DIVINE DOORS

When Paul and Silas praised God in prison, the prison doors opened.

But we must understand this carefully.

Praise is not a formula for manipulating God.

We don't praise God simply to force Him to give us what we want.

We praise Him because He is worthy.

Sometimes praise accompanies a breakthrough.

Sometimes praise gives us strength while we wait for the breakthrough.

And sometimes God changes the situation.

But in every situation, God remains worthy of our worship.

❤️ WHAT KIND OF WORSHIP DO WE OFFER?

Let us ask ourselves honestly:

Do I praise God only when I am happy?

Do I worship only when my prayers are answered?

Can I praise Him while I am waiting?

Can I thank Him when I don't understand?

Can I remain faithful when circumstances are difficult?

The Christian life requires a worship that is deeper than emotion.

Don't worship only because you feel good.

Worship because you believe God is good.

There is a difference.

🔥 A CALL TO THE CHURCH

Church, let us return to the biblical pattern of praise.

Let us praise God in abundance and in scarcity.

Let us worship Him in the morning and at midnight.

Let us praise Him when the door opens and when we are still standing outside it.

Let us praise Him in victory and remain faithful in the valley.

Let our worship be founded on faith, truth, obedience, and love for God, rather than temporary emotions.

Because our God is worthy—not merely because of what He does, but because of who He is.

🙏 A PRAYER

Father, teach us to worship You beyond our circumstances.

Give us the faith to praise You when we understand and when we do not understand.

Give us the strength to rejoice in difficult seasons.

Remove from us every form of shallow and conditional worship.

Help us to trust Your promises, stand firmly on Your Word, and remain faithful in every season.

May our praise become a testimony to those around us.

And like Paul and Silas, may we learn to sing even in the prison.

🔥 FINAL WORD

Don't wait for the door to open before you praise God.

Praise Him while you are standing at the door.

Don't wait until the battle is over to worship.

Worship Him while you are in the battle.

Don't praise God only for His blessings.

Praise Him because He is God.

“Rejoice evermore.” — 1 Thessalonians 5:16

“In every thing give thanks.” — 1 Thessalonians 5:18
