Not every church is wrong.
But not every church is RIGHT for YOU.
The church you attend can either grow you or ground you.
Here are 5 signs you may be in the wrong place:
1. You don't hear the TRUE Word — you only hear motivational speeches.
Every Sunday is "10 keys to success", "how to make money", "how to become great."
No repentance. No holiness. No salvation. No cross.
2 Timothy 4:3 — "They will not endure sound doctrine."
If you can stay in sin comfortably and still shout Amen every Sunday, the Word is not being preached to you. You are being entertained, not transformed.
2. You are growing in religion, but not growing in relationship with Jesus.
You know all the church slogans. You know when to kneel, when to stand, when to shout.
But in your secret place, you don't pray. You don't read Bible. You don't even know if you are truly born again.
A wrong church will make you a church member, but not a true disciple. Mark 7:8 — "You leave the commandment of God and hold to the tradition of men."
3. There is no love — only competition, gossip, and fear.
Everybody is forming. Nobody truly loves.
Leaders fight for position. Members gossip about each other. You are afraid to share your problem because it will become announcement next Sunday.
1 John 4:8 — "He who does not love does not know God."
Where there is no love, God is not truly leading there, no matter how big the crowd is.
4. Your Pastor cannot be questioned — he is like a god.
He says "touch not my anointed" when you ask sincere question from the Bible.
He is always right. You must never think. You must obey even when it's clearly against scripture.
That's not church, that's a cult.
Acts 17:11 praises the Berean Christians who "searched the scriptures daily to see if those things were so." A true church allows you to ask and to grow.
5. You have been there for years, but your life does NOT look like Christ more.
You came with anger, you still have anger.
You came with lust, fear, dishonesty — and after 3 years, nothing has changed. No discipleship. No follow up. No transformation.
Ephesians 4:12 says ministry is "for the perfecting of the saints."
If you are not becoming more like Jesus — more patient, more kind, more disciplined, more loving — you are in the wrong place for your season.
What should you do?
Don't leave with bitterness. Leave with wisdom.
Don't abuse the Pastor. Don't gossip.
Pray: "Lord, where do You want me to be planted for growth in this season?"
Psalm 92:13 — "Those that be planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish."
The right church is not the biggest church. It's the place where you grow, you serve, and Christ is formed in you.
