LORD GOD ALMIGHTY,
HAVE MERCY ON ME!
“God be merciful to me a sinner.” — Luke
18:13
“Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy
lovingkindness” — Psalm 51:1
Friend,
Maybe you picked this tract because those words are already your cry. In the midnight hour. In the hospital ward. After the shameful act. When the debt payment notice came. When the doctor’s report broke you.
Your
soul is groaning: “LORD GOD ALMIGHTY, HAVE
MERCY ON ME!”
Good
news: That cry is the most powerful prayer on earth. Heaven stands at attention
when a broken man calls for mercy.
1. WHY YOU NEED MERCY: YOU ARE GUILTY
BEFORE A HOLY GOD
“For all have sinned, and come short of the
glory of God” —
Romans 3:23
“If we
say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves” — 1 John 1:8
One
lie. One lustful thought. One stolen money. One abortion. One hatred. The law
says “guilty.” No amount of church, tithe, or fasting can erase it. Isaiah 64:6
— “All our righteousnesses are as filthy rags.” Without mercy, you face
judgment. Hebrews 9:27
2. WHY YOU CAN GET MERCY: BECAUSE OF THE
BLOOD
“But God, who is rich in mercy, for his
great love wherewith he loved us” — Ephesians 2:4
“Whom
God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood” — Romans
3:25
Mercy
is not God pretending you didn’t sin. Mercy is God punishing His Son instead of
you. On the cross, Jesus cried “My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?” —
Matthew 27:46 so you would never have to cry “God has forsaken me.” The price
for mercy is paid. You only need to ask.
3. HOW MERCY COMES: THROUGH REPENTANCE, NOT
EXCUSES
“He that covereth his sins shall not
prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.” — Proverbs 28:13
The
Pharisee prayed, “God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men” — Luke 18:11.
He got no mercy.
The
publican beat his chest, “God be merciful to me a sinner.” — Luke 18:13. He
went home justified.
Stop
defending your sin. Start confessing it. Mercy is not for the perfect. Mercy is
for the honest.
4. WHAT MERCY DOES: IT CANCELS JUDGMENT AND
RELEASES FAVOR
“For I will be merciful to their
unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.” — Hebrews 8:12
“Let us
therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and
find grace to help in time of need.” — Hebrews 4:16
David
committed adultery and murder. He cried, “Have mercy upon me, O God” — Psalm
51:1. God forgave and still called him “a man after mine own heart” — Acts
13:22.
The
thief on the cross deserved Hell. He cried, “Lord, remember me” — Luke 23:42.
Mercy took him to Paradise the same day. Luke 23:43
Your
case is not too hard for mercy.
5. WHEN MERCY ENDS: AFTER DEATH THERE IS NO
MORE CRYING FOR IT
“And as it is appointed unto men once to
die, but after this the judgment” — Hebrews 9:27
The
rich man in Hell cried, “Father Abraham,
have mercy on me” — Luke 16:24. Mercy was denied. Why? He had his chance on
earth. Today is your chance. 2 Corinthians 6:2 — “Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of
salvation.”
If you
die without Christ, your next cry for mercy will echo in eternity with no
answer.
CRY
FOR MERCY NOW — WITH YOUR WHOLE HEART:
“LORD GOD ALMIGHTY, HAVE MERCY ON ME!
I am a
sinner. I have broken Your laws. I cannot save myself. I believe Jesus died for
my sins and rose again. I turn from my sins today. Wash me with the blood of
Jesus. Cleanse me from all unrighteousness. I receive Your mercy and I receive
Jesus as my Lord and Savior. Write my name in the Book of Life. From today, I
belong to You. Thank You for having mercy on me. In Jesus name, Amen!”
If you
prayed that, Heaven has answered! Psalm 86:5 — “For thou, Lord, art good, and
ready to forgive; and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon thee.”
You are forgiven. You are clean. You are a child of God.
MERCY SAVED YOU. NOW GRACE WILL KEEP
YOU.
You
need a church family to grow in your new life.
